A List of Fatal Brain Diseases
The brain is the most complicated organ in the human body. The brain controls the complete human body and it regulates all their functions. Numerous things can affect the function of the human brain, from trauma to stroke, to seizures, to metabolic imbalances, to infection, but only a few of them are fatal, incurable and degenerative in nature. A list of fatal brain diseases is listed in the points below.
Prions are a type of infectious protein which is also known as spongiform encephalopathies (TSE). Prions are fatal and can infect different species. This disease kills human beings by causing an abnormal folding in the human brain and a rapid loss of cells. It also declines the functions of the nervous system of the human body. Spongiform Encephalopathy is caused when a person eats an infected animal.
Rabies is one of the deadly viruses known to human beings. It is a fast-moving virus that affects numerous mammals including human beings. Rabies is 100% fatal for humans without treatment. The deadly virus affects the central nervous system and the brain. According to scientists, once a person is infected by rabies, death occurs within few days of the beginning of the symptoms. The first symptom of this disease is flu or cold like any other disease, so it becomes difficult to distinguish at first.
This disease cause degeneration in the brain tissue. The most common form of dementia is Alzheimer’s. The disease is normally a long process of twenty or more years. During the last stages of dementia, affected persons lose the ability to walk, talk, or swallow. Death occurs because those affected with dementia are not able to communicate the discomfort from an illness, and the victim can no longer take care of himself/herself and dies due to lack of treatment.
Parasite Infection/ Amoeba
The Naegleriafowleri species of parasite or amoeba is found in infected soil and freshwater. It is a single-celled organism that can live outside, so it doesn’t need the human body to survive. Parasite Infection causes one of the most rapid deaths of human beings. The parasite enters the human brain through the nose while swimming in an infected pool and starts destroying the brain tissue immediately. Without proper treatment, most victims die due to parasite infection.
Thus we have seen that brain diseases comprise a range of disorders and conditions. A person having any kind of symptoms related to the brain should visit a good doctor as soon as possible.
